We're now into the final week of Glitch before the Dec. 9th 8pm PST end of the world. Let's take some time to celebrate what we've enjoyed about it and (re)connect here on Dreamwidth.

Date: 2012-12-03 04:42 pm (UTC)What first attracted you to Glitch? What got you hooked? People on my reading list were talking about it and I had a weekend to kill :) Got hooked on teh cute graphics first and on the world second.
Have you specialized your learning/street features/bags/etc. for any particular skill branches? [e.g. cooking, furniture-making, building, etc.] Nope, never really got the chance to.
Do you have a tower? If so, what's neat about it? Would you like help adding floors or building one in the first place? No tower.
Do you have anything in excess you'd be willing to trade or give away? Hooch, planks, metal ingots, though not quite as much as other people could offer.
Do you have anything you need or want more of that other people could give you? Nope, I am all set.
Are there any quests, achievements, and/or other goals you're still trying to accomplish before the end of the world? Some bean planting quest and I'd like to get an icon of Lem.
Have you visited the Vortex of Randomness yet? Are there any regions you haven't visited at all? I have visited all regions and have all Completist badges, plus I have visited most seam streets.
Do you practice any skills similar to Glitch skills offline? Animal Husbandry? i have two cats and three leopard geckos.
What do you think you'll miss the most about Glitch? The community, especially Glitchwidth :/
Where else can Glitch friends find you online? Are there any other Dreamwidth communities you're active in? I can mostly be found on DW, and I am not particularly comm-sy these days.
What are your five most frequently used tags on your Dreamwidth posts? Alternatively, pick five words that describe what you post about.

Date: 2012-12-03 05:14 pm (UTC)Re: the bean-planting quest, is it the one where you plant in five different regions, or the one where you nurture to full growth trees on your street? If the former, other people's streets count as individual regions in their own right...
Re: all those Completist badges - wow! Do you have favorites among all those many places you've visited? That's a pretty spectacular set of accomplishments.
I'm definitely going to miss the community too - it's been a real pleasure to interact with people in avatar ('in person' isn't quite the right phasing) whom I'd only known before through text-based DW stuff. DW IRC channels come close to the immediacy, but they lack the technicolor vividness that's so intrinsic to Glitch.

Date: 2012-12-03 05:27 pm (UTC)Yeah, I like jumping around :) My favorites by far are Haoma and Roobrik. Lots and lots of jumping and the coins are worth a lot. I usually spend some time there every day and fill my coin limit and get a lot of img that way.
Also, I like the ancestral lands, because I can just run through them and get nice goodies :)

Date: 2012-12-03 11:15 pm (UTC)What first attracted you to Glitch? What got you hooked?Saw it mentioned on my reading page and I'd been looking for something to do with my time. I liked exploring and interacting with things; the art and gameplay were good. Once I started interacting with other Glitchen, that made it even better.
Have you specialized your learning/street features/bags/etc. for any particular skill branches? Nope! I've got a bag for just about everything and as many different things on my street as I can. Less useful for particular things, but more random and shiny. :D
Do you have a tower? If so, what's neat about it? Would you like help adding floors or building one in the first place? I do! It's still short, but the first couple floor are purple and starry/shiny, which pretty much tells you what colors I like.
Do you have anything in excess you'd be willing to trade or give away? Not particularly, but I'm happy to help collect things if people need them!
Do you have anything you need or want more of that other people could give you? Emblems? I have two icons, but I'd like to make more.
Are there any quests, achievements, and/or other goals you're still trying to accomplish before the end of the world? Only the ghost quest, alas. I should just do it. It would also be nice to make one of each icon.
Have you visited the Vortex of Randomness yet? Are there any regions you haven't visited at all? Yes. I love it! It has some of my favorite locations. And I also have all the Completist badges - my favorite part of the game has been visiting all the new places, so that's pretty much what I did every time I logged in.
Do you practice any skills similar to Glitch skills offline? Well, I had to force myself to learn Animal skills before Tinkering, because I studied engineering and really just wanted the Engineering skill.
What do you think you'll miss the most about Glitch? The people, definitely. This was my first MMO, and I was a little skittish at first, but my first weekend was a feat about visiting other people and saying hi, and now I'm completely spoiled with how nice and helpful people are.
Where else can Glitch friends find you online? Are there any other Dreamwidth communities you're active in? I'm not especially active anywhere, but if you see the username Gwaihiril, it's probably me.
What are your five most frequently used tags on your Dreamwidth posts? Alternatively, pick five words that describe what you post about. Um...apparently they are [name of my co-ed fraternity], [name of my college], church, orchestra, and music. Since I graduated last June, I expect that will change in the next year.
Anything else you'd like to add? I'm kind of shy about approaching people online, but I would love to talk with you!
One of your favorite Glitch snaps: Ooh, I don't know, I tend to take snaps of pretty places in Glitch, of which there are a lot.

Have you specialized your learning/street features/bags/etc. for any particular skill branches? I initially specialized in cooking-related skills (animal kinship for raw ingredients, gardening for crops, etc.), and now am highly specialized for tincturing various herbal essences and producing bulk food. (I actually have done most of my leveling-up through sheer variety of nomming - I only have a few Completist badges so far.)
Do you have a tower? If so, what's neat about it? Would you like help adding floors or building one in the first place? Glitchwidth is technically my tower, though it's very much a communal effort. I am still in awe that it's complete, and how much awesome y'all have been continuing to pile into to it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Do you have anything in excess you'd be willing to trade or give away? If you want any advanced potions in particular, I have the stockpiles of essences to make most of them on demand.
Do you have anything you need or want more of that other people could give you? I'm always looking for more basic resources (beans, allspice, bubbles, and guano especially) for making food for Glitchwidth's Pub floor. Also, $FancyDrinks for restocking are always in demand.
Are there any quests, achievements, and/or other goals you're still trying to accomplish before the end of the world? I'd like to finish learning all the various skills and visit at least once every street on the world map (and incidentally finish gathering those final few wisps of giant DNA).
Have you visited the Vortex of Randomness yet? Are there any regions you haven't visited at all? Yes to visiting Vortex of Randomness, and not yet to 'Symphonious Maximus'.
Do you practice any skills similar to Glitch skills offline? I'm a skilled and adventurous cook (and I do actually grow herbs, though I primarily use them as fresh seasonings, not for making strange essences); I will pet any feline who accepts that form of worship; I love chemistry (though test tubes are rarely so predictable) and I sometimes meditate.
What do you think you'll miss the most about Glitch? The easy interaction with other people, the meditative pleasure of growing and harvesting and tending to various elements of the world, the beautiful art and sly delight intrinsic to every inch of it all.
Where else can Glitch friends find you online? Are there any other Dreamwidth communities you're active in? Glitchen can find me on Dreamwidth, and I'll likely start frequently #dreamwidth IRC again after Glitch closes. As for communities,
What are your five most frequently used tags on your Dreamwidth posts? Alternatively, pick five words that describe what you post about. My top four tags are poetry-related, my fifth is 'comm: poetree', and the sixth (for variety) is 'meta'. ...this is mostly a function of how I tend to nest tags, I think. (I've got close to 600 at this point, most in nested hierarchies.)
Anything else you'd like to add? There's something to be said for adapting elements of Glitch to offline life. (Link goes to TED talk.)

Have you specialized your learning/street features/bags/etc. for any particular skill branches? I'm currently trying to learn as many skills as I can before Glitch closes, but my street is aimed towards building supplies
Do you have a tower? If so, what's neat about it? Would you like help adding floors or building one in the first place? I have a tower. 2 neat things: One, I decorated the machine room so that there are things to stare at while you wait for the machines to do their thing. Two, there is a community room at the top floor for people to hang out and do things if they so choose. It used to have a freebie pile, but that kept getting looted :(
Do you have anything in excess you'd be willing to trade or give away? Butterfly Milk, Meat, and anything you can harvest from a tree I can get super quickly if you need it. Also, if you need anything constructed out of supplies that you have, I can do that for you.
Do you have anything you need or want more of that other people could give you? Food! I hate cooking!
Are there any quests, achievements, and/or other goals you're still trying to accomplish before the end of the world? I like visiting peoples' streets and houses and towers!
Have you visited the Vortex of Randomness yet? Are there any regions you haven't visited at all? There's lots of regions I haven't visited yet, because I've found that all the lovely notes make me super duper sad so I've been sticking to peoples' streets lately. Weird, I know. Also, rook attacks.
Do you practice any skills similar to Glitch skills offline? ALL the knitting. And sometimes I garden, if my body lets me.
What do you think you'll miss the most about Glitch? Having an avatar to interact with dreamwidth/Glitch friends.
Where else can Glitch friends find you online? Are there any other Dreamwidth communities you're active in?
What are your five most frequently used tags on your Dreamwidth posts? Alternatively, pick five words that describe what you post about. Five words: knitting, photos, brains, ableism, poetry
Anything else you'd like to add? At some point, I may try playing Guild Wars II. But I don't think it will be the same...
